Irrometer Model R Tensiometer for Vineyard Irrigation

Irrometer Company - Soil-Irrigation

Overview

The Irrometer Model R is a soil tensiometer used for direct measurement of soil moisture tension in vineyard blocks. It measures the suction force that plant roots must exert to extract water from the soil, providing a direct indicator of plant-available water status independent of soil type. Installed at vine root zone depth, typically 12 and 24 inches, tensiometers give irrigation managers real-time data on when the soil has dried to a target tension level requiring irrigation. The Irrometer is the standard tensiometer reference in California and Oregon viticulture irrigation management programs.
