PMS Instrument Model 600 Pressure Chamber
PMS Instrument Company - Monitoring-Tools
Overview
The PMS Instrument Model 600 pressure chamber is the standard tool for measuring stem water potential (SWP) in wine grape vines. SWP measurement is the most accurate field method for assessing vine water stress and informing precision irrigation decisions. A leaf is enclosed in the chamber and nitrogen gas pressure is applied until xylem sap appears at the petiole cut, indicating the water potential of the vine. In California and Oregon premium viticulture, midday SWP measurements are recorded by block through the growing season to track water status and trigger irrigation events at target stress levels.
